Personal pageI was born in Barcelona, Spain, and though I have lived in Andorra for the last 30 years, I follow Spanish politics as closely as I can. It is extraordinary how politics there are coloured by nationalistic concerns: Catalan political parties, television, radio, press... put all pressure they can to help establish a Catalan universe of reference, which is contrasted if not set against the Spanish space. In turn, the Spanish government and media are concerned about Catalan and Basque separatism and try to promote a Spanish frame of reference. Sadly, no one seems too concerned about helping establish and European frame of reference, much less a universal human one. I am strongly pro-European, and feel dismayed by the continuous delays and obstruction the European Union advancement suffers. In spite of its enormous achievements, I believe the European project is also facing an increasing nationalistic pressure from many of the governments and political parties that should be cultivating the European identity. So I feel I need to do my part and do my best to create a global human consciousness, even having to fight opposing mainstream forces and attitudes. The Human Union Movement is arguably the best project to do this, although I also support other parallel movements and campaigns (the World Federalist Movement and the Campaign for a United Nations Parliamentary Assembly are but two of them). I honestly believe there is no contradiction in this and I would like to see members of these and other cosmopolitan groups join the Human Union Movement. We need to join forces, even if we keep separate identities. There is no doubt our opponents would love to see we don't. |
Member of Orkut I am a psychologist, born in Barcelona, Spain, but have been living with my wife in Andorra for the last 30 years. I have two adopted sons, already young adults. I like to read psychology (perhaps surprisingly), science fiction, science in general and cosmology in particular (perhaps because I can barely understand it), and more seriously about international politics and cosmopolitanism. I used to ride horses, practice yoga (I am a certified yoga teacher) and like playing go (are you familiar with it? For a long time I have considered myself a world citizen, and I have been engaged actively within the world citizen movement for a number of years. |
